We are extremely proud to announce that on the 2nd of June, Selective Hearing are teaming up with long standing Manchester music moguls, Easter Bloc Records, to host Manchesters Dimensions Launch party…

If you don’t know about Dimensions Festival, it’s pretty much one of the greatest line ups to be assembled for a festival in recent times…that is if you’re a fan of all things electronic. 

A festival that boasts the likes of Carl Craig, Marcel Dettmann, Ben Klock, Little Dragon, Moodyman, Theo Parrish, Scuba, Mount Kimbie, Four Tet, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Loefah, Floating Points, Pearson Sound and a whole host of other techno, house and bass acts taking you through to the early hours of the croatian mornings.

Anyway … less of their party, and more of ours … We’ve curated a line up which we feel best show cases the state of modern electronic music today, a diverse line up moving in-between the realms of techno, house and forward thinking bass music. We will be partying from 6pm-6am with a bbq and outdoor djs kicking of proceedings, then moving inside the Mill as the night draws in.

2562 vs A Made Up Sound

Dutch native, Berlin emigrated, Dave Huismans, aka 2562 or A Made Up Sound has been churning out release after release since the mid 00’s, under the moniker 2562 he has crafted a generation defining sound, loosely based somewhere in the 140 bpm, dubstep orientated category, however taking inspiration from slow tempos such as house & techno. 2562 creates atmospheric industrial sounds that build up to a pulsating climax that leaves dance floors in ruins. Trying to pigeon hole him in one genre is no mean feat as he constantly re-writes the rule books, giving no thought to tempo and genre restrictions. His sounds are littered with a kind of funky kinetic energy that twist and contort around broken beats a techno’d synths. He works in an almost military like fashion, having released 3 albums in under 3 years, all with an equally compelling and diverse range. If you’ve never been lucky enough to catch the man doing his thing, well then you’re most certainly in for a treat.

INDIGO

Liam Blackburn, aka Indigo is a sound crafter of epic proportions. His ability to switch between styles and genres is second to non, looking at his history of releases, it is easy to see why this beat smith is regarded so highly within the upper echelons of electronic music. Having brought to the fore many a young producer with releases on his own Mindset imprint, he is an innovator as well a pioneer. His sets are just as diverse as his back catalog. Along with long time producing partner Synkro, Indigo has created some of the scenes most seminal work, especially his 2011 release on Dbridge Autonomic label, Guidance. A soulful, thought provoking, emotive, down tempo d’n’b track, with ghostly, echo’d vocals and anthem like drum patterns. HIs ability to bring out the soul in otherwise soulless genres is something remarkable, so much so that Maya Jayne Coles’ label, Hyper Colour, have just singed Indigo, to what everyone who knows, knows, will be a remarkable release, moving away from his reputation of making 140’s and autonomic drum n bass, his new venture is into dark techno, something we look forward to with baited breath.

TOM DICICCO

Tom Dicicco is another native to the rainy city of Manchester, an artists that bridges the divide between techno and dub with ease, and simplicity. Since his emergence in 2009 he has been garnering a strong support within techno and bass scenes. His sound taking heavy influences from dub and reggae legends, such as King Tubby & Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, with a raw, industrial techno edge, that set’s him apart from his contemporaries. Having released with the likes of Kowton, and AND this young Mancunians future looks set to be bright. Come catch him in his home town, doing what he does best, ripping up the dance.
